Rajinikanth’s latest film ‘Jailor’ has made an impressive opening at the box office. Released on August 10th, the film has garnered a gross collection of approximately 52 crores in India. This remarkable achievement has made ‘Jailor’ the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023 on its opening day, surpassing the previous record held by director Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’, which collected around 32 crores on its opening day.
The film witnessed a strong occupancy rate of 78.62% throughout the day in theaters. When considering the net collection across all languages, ‘Jailor’ has accumulated a total of 44.50 crores in India. It’s important to note that the net collection does not include taxes and distributor charges.
Among the various regions, Tamil Nadu contributed the highest collection of 23 crores, followed by 11 crores from Karnataka, approximately 5 crores from Kerala, 10 crores from Andhra Pradesh, 3 crores from Telangana, and other states. ‘Jailor’ has set the record for the biggest opening film of 2023 in Tamil Nadu and Kerala on its release day. Additionally, it is the first Tamil film to achieve such a massive opening in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
